We're very proud to have supported many national and local charities, as well as numerous community sports clubs, societies and events over the last 30 years. This year our chosen charity is Lymphoedema Support Network (LSN). To show our support Walton director Martin Smith was due to run the hugely popular 2018 Bath Half Marathon on 4th March, aiming to raise as much money as possible for LSN. He trained in all weathers during January and February, only for the event to be called off (see below)!
He'll now be running the Bristol Half in September, so please show your support by donating at his Just Giving page - many thanks!
18 April 2018 - Bristol Half Marathon Update
Finally some good weather has arrived so, hopefully, all of Martin's really hard (& cold) yards are behind him! The training continues and should get easier, and the good news is that including 'offline' donations Martin has already raised over the £1000.00 mark! We're very grateful for all your donations and, if you haven't done so already, please help him on the way to raising £2000.00 - it's a great cause!
7 March 2018 - Bath Half Marathon Update
Sadly, the 'Bath Half' was cancelled by the race authorities due to the 'Beast from the East' - Martin was understandably 'gutted' after all the training and, in particular, his no-alcohol regime! However, he's made of determined stuff and has vowed to continue the training (and probably start enjoying some alcohol again) as he's now signed up for the Bristol Half Marathon on Sunday 23rd September, which just happens to come the day after his niece's wedding!
We're very much hoping that you'll continue your support for both Martin and the LSN by carrying forward your generous sponsorship - however, please contact us if not.
Many thanks for your understanding!
"The Lymphoedema Support Network (LSN) is the leading UK charity supporting those living with, or affected by, Lymphoedema. The condition causes lifelong swelling, which can affect any part of the body, but is most commonly seen in the limbs. Lymphoedema can also cause skin changes and discomfort for patients as well as an increased risk of infection (cellulitis). It affects over 200,000 adults and children in the UK.
The LSN can offer support in a huge variety of ways including a quarterly newsletter, a wide range of fact sheets, online self-management videos, children’s packs, telephone support and much more.
We would not be able to do this without the support of amazing people like Martin, who along with the team at Walton Press have always been great to work with, but this is over and above and we wish him good luck!"
Anita Wallace, Chair of Trustees.
Please show your support, both for Martin and for LSN, by following the link above to his Just Giving page where you can make a donation. LSN and the team at Walton will be hugely grateful for all donations, however small, which will directly benefit the great work that LSN undertakes. Go Martin!
